Give Them a Hand.

It's the last week of National High School Activities Month. Before we call the month complete, let's finish strong and ensure that National Community Service and Youth Awareness Week is just as grand as the others.

We can do that by recognizing the community volunteers who aim to improve the livelihood of our youth. These individuals undoubtedly deserve our praise.

But, if we are to do this week right, the best thing any of us could do is give a hand to those who lend a hand—and become a volunteer for your community, too.

Things you can do:

• Sign up to volunteer for a cause you're passionate about

• Donate to a local community organization or charity

• Ask a faculty member to sponsor an after-school club that performs community service
