NIAA Executive Director Timothy Jackson Resigns

July 3, 2026 | NFHS NEWS

The NIAA announced Wednesday afternoon in a press release that executive director Tim Jackson will resign effective August 1, 2026.

Jackson began his tenure in March of 2024, taking over for Donnie Nelson, lasting a little more than two years as executive director. The press release stated Jackson will step down to pursue new opportunities.

While serving as executive director, Jackson oversaw the sanctioning of boys and girls lacrosse – set to begin in the spring of 2027 – and the development of girls wrestling as a standalone state championship sport.

The NIAA Board of Control will meet in the coming weeks to discuss the transition plan and the search for a new Executive Director. Jackson has committed to working closely with the Board through August 1 to ensure a smooth handoff for the upcoming 2026-2027 athletic seasons.

"It has been an honor to serve Nevada's member schools and student-athletes," said Jackson. "I am proud of the strides we have made in professionalizing our operations, expanding opportunities for students, and strengthening our relationships with state leaders," said Jackson in the press release.

Jackson was the sixth executive director in the association's history.

The new executive director taking over in August will be the NIAA's third since 2022.
