NFHS 106th Summer Meeting Women’s Leadership Recap
The 106th NFHS Summer Meeting was held this year in Chicago, IL. The NFHS Summer Meeting is a four-day conference comprised of general sessions, discussion forums, and networking opportunities. The Women in Leadership team held two events this year, the Women’s Leadership Summit and the Women’s Networking Social.
The Women’s Leadership Summit featured a fireside chat with a renowned panel of successful women who spoke on mentorship and allyship in action. The panel consisted of Dr. Jenny Millward, Executive Director of American Association of Adapted Sports Programs, Brenda Hilton, Founder and CEO of Officially Human, and Karen Murphy, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Chicago Bears. The panel was moderated by Nicole Schaefbauer, Executive Director of the Illinois Elementary State Association.
The Women’s Networking Social was held after the Summit and served as an opportunity for the women who are a part of the NFHS membership to socialize and meet new people. The Networking Social included games like cornhole, Uno, and Jenga for attendees to play while they mixed and mingled.
During the Women’s Leadership Summit and Networking Social, affirmation jars from the NFHS Women in Leadership team were given to attendees. The affirmation jars contained motivational quotes and inspiring messages submitted by various state association female administrators. The jars were created to uplift and encourage administrators with hope and strength throughout the school year. Attendees also received a collage of pictures from hosted events as a keepsake for the wisdom gained, laughs shared and the relationships built.
The Annual Induction Ceremony for the NFHS Hall of Fame, held on the third day of the summer meeting, is an outstanding culminating highlight of the event each year. The 2025 NFHS Hall of Fame Class is comprised of one performing arts inductee, one contributor, one official, one administrator, three coaches, and four athletes. This year’s class includes the induction of five outstanding females – Anna Marie Lopez, Caryn Schoff-Kovatch, Linda Lampkin, Jane Berry-Eddings, and Diane Wolf.
