2025-26 Middle School Committee Welcomes New Members
The NFHS is pleased to welcome two new members of the Middle School Committee: LeAnna Dawson and Lamont Robinson Jr.
Committee members are nominated by state associations, as is the chairperson, who guides the members through their work. Each of the NFHS’s eight sections are represented on the given rules committee and each committee member serves a four-year term.
LeAnna Dawson, Section 3, received a B.S. and M.S. in Social Studies from the University of Southern Mississippi and a M.S. in history from Jackson State University. A retired 27-year educator she taught at the middle, high school and collegiate levels. Dawson joined the MHSAA staff in 2018 as an Assistant Director of Activities. In 2025, she became the Director of Middle Schools for the state association. Her responsibilities also include overseeing high school archery, bowling, spirit, volleyball, tennis, girls flag football and choir. Dawson is the point of contact for the various NFHS awards and paraprofessional coach certification.
Lamont Robinson Jr., Section 7, is the Middle School Athletic Commissioner for the Oakland Section (CA) and has been a driving force behind expanding athletic opportunities for all middle school students in the Oakland Unified School District. An Oakland native, Robinson draws on his deep roots and extensive network to champion youth sports as a vehicle for growth, engagement, and community. Through his leadership, he has built a comprehensive system that emphasizes skill development, strategic coach-athlete matching, and the cultivation of athletic directors who are equipped to support both coaches and student-athletes. His work has significantly raised awareness around the importance of middle school athletics and has laid a strong foundation for long-term athletic and personal success among Oakland’s youth.
The Middle School Committee Meeting will take place in Indianapolis October 13-14, 2025.
