What's the most important life lesson you’ve learned from participating in high school activities?

Some description

Ashley Dunteman
Northern Burlington County Regional High School
Columbus, New Jersey

By joining cross country and track in high school, there were many challenges I was faced with and lessons I was taught. Therefore, the most important life lesson that I’ve learned is to be determined in everything you do and to give it your all. I’ve learned that there is always something more that can be done to improve yourself and giving up is never an option. Participating in high school sports has taught me this because there is always an overall goal for the team to achieve, and you want to do the very best you can to accomplish it. Through cross country I’ve learned that not every race is going to go your way, but the only thing you can do is build more determination to improve yourself so that you come back stronger next time. I have been able to incorporate this into my life in school by pushing myself to achieve the grades I aim for, or through any other challenges I may face. Participating in high school sports is not only fun, but teaches you how to persevere so that you never give up until you reach your goal.
